In the classe of Bilingual Earth Science (2nd ESO, IES Adormideras) we made a model of an island from a topographic map. We had a lot of fun with this activity, cutting pieces of cardboard and coloring them.

A map is a drawing that shows a simplified version of some detail of the earth surface. Many different types of maps are available. Each type has its own special features and purpose.
